Creative Consultancy

Bring Authenticity to Your Project

My approach: creative-first consulting. In the world of premium storytelling, authenticity isn’t just about dates and facts, it’s an atmosphere. It’s the invisible thread that makes an audience completely believe a world.

I believe that history should serve the story, never stifle it. Whether writing a script, directing an actor, designing a video game level, or drafting a novel, dramatic tension and player immersion always come first. My role is not to police your creativity with a list of restrictions, but to expand it with a wealth of historical possibilities. If a rigid historical fact stands in the way of a brilliant narrative moment, we work collaboratively to find a compelling, authentic alternative that honours both the integrity of the era and the emotional truth of your project.

I look to work with productions to ground their projects in the rich, visceral reality of humanity's past. Acting as a collaborative bridge between the archives and your project, I help directors, writers, game developers, and department heads navigate historical complexities to enhance, elevate, and empower their creative vision.
From early-stage script development to active on-set advising, let's ensure your project carries the true weight, texture, and magic of the past.

What I Offer

Narrative & Script Development

  • Writers' Room Advising: Unpacking the social hierarchies, psychological landscapes, and cultural nuances of specific historical eras to inspire authentic character motivations and high-stakes plot points.

  • Script Assessment & Polishing: Reviewing treatments or completed scripts for historical plausibility, era-appropriate dialogue/vernacular, and cultural sensitivity, offering creative alternatives where historical friction occurs.

  • Deep-Dive Archival Research: Sourcing rare primary documents, letters, diaries, and historical records to unearth unique, lesser-known details that give your narrative a distinct edge.

World-Building & Material Culture

  • Production & Costume Design Research: Sourcing precise visual references for set dressers, prop masters, and costume designers, from the layout of a specific century's architecture to the exact daily items a person of a certain social class would carry.

  • Period Etiquette & Social Norms: Advising on the unwritten rules of the past such as  religious customs, gender dynamics, class interactions, and linguistic idioms, to ensure the world feels organic and lived-in.

On-Set & Location Advising

  • Action & Etiquette Coaching: Instructing cast members on historical etiquette, posture, societal norms, and physical tasks (how a specific tool was used, how a social dynamic functioned in public) to ensure seamless on-camera performances.

  • Location Sourcing & Context: Collaborating with Location Managers to identify geographically and historically accurate settings, while providing the crew with the hidden lore of the land they are shooting on.

Who I Work With

Film, Television, & Digital Media

  • Showrunners & Screenwriters looking to build rich, accurate worlds from the ground up or polish scripts for era-appropriate nuance.

  • Directors & Actors seeking deep contextual research to inform character motivations, period etiquette, posture, and tone.

  • Production Designers & Wardrobe Departments requiring precise visual and material references for any era or setting.

Video Game Developers & Interactive Media

  • Narrative Designers & Writers seeking to ground lore, character backgrounds, and branching dialogue choices in realistic historical frameworks.

  • Concept Artists & Environment Designers requiring deep-dive visual research into period architecture, weapons, armor, and everyday material culture to build believable, immersive game worlds.

  • Systems & Gameplay Designers looking to understand historical mechanics, from ancient trade routes and societal structures to authentic combat styles and technology timelines, to enhance realism in simulation, RPG, or strategy titles.

Authors & Historical Fiction Novelists

  • Writers & Novelists looking to cross the bridge from surface-level research to visceral, lived-in prose. I help you uncover the sensory details of your setting, what a specific street might have smelled like, the slang of the working class, or the hidden legal and social realities your characters would have navigated.

  • Developmental Editors needing a specialised historical pass to catch anachronisms, pacing issues related to historical technology (like travel or communication speeds), and cultural implausibilities before publication.

Brands, PR Agencies, & Corporate Clients

  • Marketing Directors & Event Producers looking to anchor commercial campaigns, immersive pop-up activations, or promotional media in genuine heritage and historical storytelling.
